BARBARA K. RINGO THOMPSON
Barbara K. Ringo Thompson, 72 of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly July 11, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born April 26, 1933, in Clay County, the daughter of Don French and Katherine McAllister French.
She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1951. As a young woman, Barbara was active in Tri Kappa and the Daughters of the Nile, Valley of Terre Haute. She served as president of the Daughters of the Nile the year they traveled to Hawaii. She began her working career in real estate in the early 1980's with Emmert Realty. She later worked in Terre Haute with REMAX realtors. She enjoyed working in the real estate field helping families. She later worked at First Bank and Trust, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Board of Realtors in Brazil and in Terre Haute. She enjoyed her group of lady friends that met for dinner each month and golfing with friends. Her love for life was reflected through her famly and her home. She loved decorating her home, working in her flowers, watching birds from her deck and having friends and family in her home.
She is survived by her husband Jim Thompson, whom she married May 23, 1998; her mother, Katherine French of Brazil; one son Tim Ringo and Cathy Amendola of Marietta, GA; one daughter Traci Miller and husband Brad of Brazil; one step-daughter, Kim Thibodeau and husband Patrick of Reelsville; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Swearingen and husband Danny, Erin Ringo, Joshua Miller, Samuel Miller and Johnathan Thibodeau; one brother and sister in law, Dr. Charles and Susie French of Brazil; her mother in law, Virginia Thompson, and sister-in-law and brother in law, Joetta and Tom Milligan of Cataract; nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Don French in 1992.
Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Gary Scroggins officiating. Music will be provided by Steve McCullough and Rick Wetnight. Pallbearers will include, Brad Miller, Joshua Miller, Samuel Miller, Danny Swearingen, Steve French and Patrick Thibodeau. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Ringo, Charles French and Nick French. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again Friday prior to services. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to First United Methodist Church Caring Ministries. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
