Mac F. Steuerwald, 94, Knightville, formerly of Harmony and Indianapolis, died at 12:10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at the Cloverleaf Healthcare of Knightsville where he had been a patient since February, 2003.
Born in Brazil on April 9, 1911, he was the son of John Steuerwald and Mahala Tribble Steuerwald. He resided in Indianapolis while a welder for Navistar Corporation, priorly called International Harvester, then returned to Harmony upon his retirement.
He was a 1925 graduate of Brazil High School, a veteran of World War II serving in Europe with the 555th Ordnance Tank Corp and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Besides his parents, he ws preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Torr Steuerwald, whom he married Oct. 5, 1938, and who died Feb. 8, 1998; one step-daughter, Betty Jean Clear; and three sisters, Nina Mary Cook in 1991, and in 2004, Florence Currie in July and Frances Hamilton in Sept.
Surviving are three nephews, John Hamilton, Arlington Heights, Ill.; David Currie, Tiburon, Calif.; and Tom Cook, Peteluna, Calif.; a niece, Sharon Hahn, Frankfort, IN; two granddaughters, Gay Ruddock and Kay Ellen Bigsley, both of Terre Haute.
Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in Summit Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Rush officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Lawson-Miller Chapel.
