Betty Louise Summerlot, 75, of Greenwood, IN died at her residence Friday, July 22, 2005 following an extended illness.

She was born August 8, 1929 in Denmark, IN to Luther Paul and Wilma Bernice Carr McCreery. She married Donald Summerlot on October 29, 1947. She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church. She was a strong Christian who loved to listen to gospel music and read the Bible. Her family was a joy for her, as she spent much time with them all especially her grandchilden. She loved to cook and bake, most notable were her homemade noodles and apple dumplings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy Tony Wayne Syummerlot and a brother Donald Lee McCreery.

She is survived by her husband Donald, a son Donald Steven and wife Jackie Summerlot of Indianapolis, two daughters Linda Bertram and husband Bruce previously of Greenfield, IN and Brenda Kay Hazlett and husband Gary of Middletown, IN; two brothers Gerald Max McCreery of Indianapolis and George Burton McCreery of Terre Haute, IN; five sisters Ruth Walker of Spencer, Rosland Orman of Clay City, Carol Brown of Riley, Barbara Newport of Freetown and Shirley Christianson of Greenwood; eleven grandchilden, Kimberly Lynn Maxwell, Laurie Marie Tyndall, Brian Allen Bertram, Amanda Louise Wilson, Derrick Lee Shinn, Bradley Steven Summerlot, Kelly Ann Lundy, Amber Mae Summerlot, David Lee Summerlot, Rebecca Jean Hazlett and Leighla Kay Hazlett; 12 great grandchilden and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay city, IN, Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
