Edna L. Cornwell, 93, of Carbon, IN, passed away at the Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, IN, at 1:45 p.m., July 24, 2005.

Born February 3, 1912, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Alva and Clara Morlan Hayes. She was married to Paul E. Cornwell for 61 years; he preceded her in death in 1989. During her working years, she was employed by Detroit Diesel Allison in packing and shipping. She retired in 1971.

She was active in church and taught Sunday School for many years at Westbrook Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, and at Carbon Nazarene Church in Carbon, IN. She was a member of Brazil First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed music and in her later years sang to others wherever she went.

Edna is survived by her children; one daughter, Betty Lois Glendy of Plainfield, IN, and one son, Paul M. Cornwell and his wife Joan of Brownsburg, IN, five grandchildren, David Glendy and his wife Chrystal, Paula Snyder and her husband Al, Leasa Woener and her husband Ed, Chris Cornwell and his wife Barbara, and Mark Glendy and his wife Paula; great grandchildren, Heidi, Elizebeth and Luke Glendy, Daphne and Andrea Glendy, Helee Livengood and her husband Chris, Aaron, Andrew and Austin Cornwell; great-great grandchildren, Michaela, Micenzi and Michenna Livengood; sisters, Laveda Krider, Ann Marlow, Carol Tyler and the later Melvin Tyler, all of Brazil; Myrna Mercer, of Kentucky; brother Forest Hayes and his wife Janetta, of Ohio; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dianna Criswell; a son-in-law, Dave Glendy; three sisters, Thelma Wood, Inez Robison, Evelyn Hayes; two brothers Willard Hayes and Wilmer Hayes.

Services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, IN. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Her great-grandson in law, Evangelist Chris Livengood will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again Thursday prior to services.
