Douglas P. Sullivan, 37, died July 30, 2005 at 5:45 p.m. at his residence.

He was born March 18, 1968 in Terre Haute, the son of Carl M. Sullivan and Mary Dixon Sullivan.

He was a 1986 graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School where he was an active member of the baseball team. He attended Olney Community College and one year at ISU.

He was a heavy equipment operator for D.E. Shew Excavating Co. before being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2000. He was a Cubs fan and enjoyed horses, softball, hunting, fishing and any form of racing that made left hand turns.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Catherine Elizabeth Dixon and George Dixon. He is survived by a daughter, Madison Leigh Sullivan of Brazil; a sister and brother-in-law, Carla and John Walton of Terre Haute; two neices, Maria and Hayley Walton and paternal grandparents, Ira and Rebecca Sullivan of Terre Haute.

Services will be conducted Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kern and Father Rick Ginther officiating. Visitation will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.

For those who choose, donations can be made to either the St. Margaret Mary Food Pantry or the Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
