Larry G. Lawson, 68, Terre Haute, died early Saturday, August 6, in Union Hospital.
Born near Carbon on March 10, 1937, his parents were Arthur Lawson and Kathryn Craig Lawson. He was a 1955 graduate of Van Buren High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1960. From 1970 to 1985, he operated the Lawson Travelmart on Hwy. 59 and the Clay-Parke county line road. Also during that period for five years, he had a sporting goods store in Rockville, and from 1985 maintained a gunsmith shop in a building at the rear of his home in Glenn community. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Valenda Heithecker and Ladonna bishop.
Surviving are his wife, Betty L. Harris Lawson, whom he married November 5, 1960; one son, Charles F. Lawson, Little Rock, Ark; two granddaughters, Cierra and Melissa Lawson, at home; one brother, Jim Lawson, Terre Haute, IN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, IN. Rev. Marshall W. Hendrix will officiate, and burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
