John Barbre Coleman, 79, widower of the late Margaret Harrison Coleman, died Thursday, August 11, 2005, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born September 1, 1925, to John Ernest and Martha Barbre Coleman in Evansville, Indiana, and was reared in childhood by his aunt, Zoe Barbre in Farmersburg, Indiana.

Mr. Coleman was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Indiana State Teacher's College. His early career was spent as a special education teacher and speech therapist in Indiana public schools. He was also a long-term employee of Vigo Dodge in Terre Haute.

Besides his beloved wife, Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathleen Coleman and a sister Olive Coleman Parkhurst. He is survived by his children, Sandra (Brad) Huffman of Terre Haute, IN; Debi (Mark) Emrick and James Cox of Brazil, IN; grandchildren Hannah Gillin, Ed and Ken Walker of Terre Haute, IN; Sarah and Caleb Emrick, Tiffany, Jason and Erin Cox all of Brazil, IN; as well as several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two nephews, John Craig Parkhurst of Richmond KY. and James Coleman Parkhurst of Phoenix, AZ.

Visitation is from 11:00 a.. to 1:00 p. m. on Saturday, August 13th. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13th, 2005 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel Funeral Home in Terre Haute with burial to follow in the Farmersburg Cemetery.
