James W. Fisher, 83, of Brazil died 2:26 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005, at Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis following a motor vehicle accident.
He was born December 25, 1921, in Putnam County to Jesse Lloyd Fisher and Mary Barnett Fisher.
Following graduation from Reelsville High School he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his working career he worked at Arketex brick plant, Cook Lumber and owned and operated his own farm. He was a member of Ebenezer Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Virginia Fisher and one brother, Earl Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Marie Young Fisher, whom he married September 28, 1947 in Greencastle, IN; three daughters, Donna Kaufman and husband Don, Shirley Archer and husband Larry and Maryellen Fisher and husband Bill, all of Brazil; two sons, Ken Fisher and wife Linda of Brazil and Kevin Fisher and wife Coreen of Simpsonville, SC; two sisters Nellie Andrade of Phoenix, AZ and Rosella Pflueger of Brazil; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 17th at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery with Military Honors. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ebenezer Church building fund, 1698 E CR 1350 N, Brazil IN 47834.
