William J. "BIll" Simes, 73, of Terre Haute, died August 10, 2005, at 6:38 p.m. unexpectedly in the emergency room of Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born December 30, 1931, in Brazil, the son of William H. Simes and Gertrude Anderson Simes. He graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1950. He served in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. He worked as a painter for over 44 years in the Brazil and Terre Haute area. He was a member of the local Painters Union. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping at Fowler Park and was a lover of all animals. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a wonderful friend to many.

He is survived by his three children, Barry Simes and wife Rhonda of Granger, IN; Lisa Rouse and husband Greg of Beaverton, OR; and Jan Hahne and husband Joe of Melleville, UT; nine grandchildren, Courtney Hahne, Kelsey Hahne, Brittany Hahne, Lindsey Hahne, David Rouse, Allison Rouse, Ariel Bell, Rachel Bell and Cameron Simes; two sisters, Martha Mershon of Punta Gorda, FL and Glendora Price and husband Jim of Brazil, IN; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National, Brazil, with Pastor Larry Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Wilkerson Cemetery, west of Poland. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
