Virginia L. Nelson, 69, of Brazil, died unexpectedly August 14, 2005, at 11:35 p.m. in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1936, in Clay County, the daughter of John A. Lunsford and Flora Lints Lunsford. She graduated from Bowling Green High School. She married John "Jack" Nelson June 30, 1963. She was a long-time member of the Nazarene Church in Brazil. She worked in the pressroom at CBS for twenty years, retiring in 1980. In 1983 she and her husband Jack started the Double-N-Diner. She enjoyed all aspects of the restaurant from cooking and baking to just seeing all her friends. She ran the restaurant for 14 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and Order of the Eastern Star 80. She loved playing bingo at Kennedy Crossing and at the VFW. She also liked to play euchre with friends. She and Jack were "parents" to many children in their married life together. They loved children and their home was always open to all.
She is survived by her husband Jack Nelson of Brazil, IN; one sister Hilda Torbert, three brothers, Cecil Lunsford and wife Juanita, Marvin Lunsford and wife Shirley and Tony Lunsford and wife Linda; three brothers and sisters-in law, James and Pat Nelson, Louis "Sug" and Brenda Nelson and Bob and Clara Nelson; close friends Tony and Cami Sciotto; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marjorie Dickison and Lillian Stearley.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday prior to services. Light a candle in her memory at www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
