Hilda Torbert, 76, of Brazil, passed away August 16, 2005, at Clay County Health Care Center.
She was born November 14, 1928, in Clay County, the daughter of John A. Lunsford and Flora Lints Lunsford. She graduated from Bowling Green High School, Class of 1946. As a young girl she worked at Moores' Store and the National Drugstore in Brazil. She later was a cook at the Blue Bonnet. She went on to work for CBS in Terre Haute for over 15 years. Following retirement from there she cooked at the Double N Diner and at Granny's Cafe in Brazil. She loved to play Bingo and Euchre with her family and friends. She was a member of the Prairie City Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Mary C. Torbert, Paul and Sue Torbert, Mark and Robin Torbert, and S. Annette and Jim Mullenix; thirteen grandchildren, Patty Ann Torbert, Shawn Tiffany Ritter, Heidi Murff, Matthew Torbert, Sarah Tellechea, Rebekah Holmes, Johnny Joe Mullenix, William E. Mullenix, Marlon Scott Mullenix, Bridget Torbert, Jeff Torbert, Jason Hutcheson, and Matthew Hutcheson; eleven great-grandchildren, John, Brianna, Haley, Morgan, Dylan, Isacc, Daylan, Ian, Kaylah, Cierra and Dakota; three brothers, Cecil and Juanita Lunsford, Marvin and Shirley Lunsford and Tony and Linda Lunsford; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Torbert; three sisters, Marjorie Dickison, Lillian Stearley and Virginia Nelson; two great-grandsons, Matthew Dylan Torbert and Robert Marshall Tellechea. Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Kaelber Cemetery.
