Ricki Ray Raab, age 54, died at 9:55 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2005 at his residence near Reelsville, Indiana.

After graduating from Indiana State, Rick worked for the Indiana State Board of Health in Indianapolis until 1981 when he returned to Putnam County to farm with his father. Rick and Joe both treasured the years they worked together.

In addition to farming, Rick enjoyed gardening and landscaping, serving his church and community, and traveling with his family and wife Terri. Involved in his community, Rick served as president of the Putnam County Mental Health Association in the early 1980's. He was an active member of Croys Creek Congregational Christian Church, serving as Board Chairman for about 20 years and as a trustee for Croys Creek Cemetery for about 5 years. He supervised the extensive renovation of the sanctuary at Croys Creek Church which occurred beginning in 1997 through 1999. He also served as a director on the Board of the local telephone cooperative (CCRTC) from 1981 through 1984, and took a lead role in preventing the loss of CCRTC as a community owned asset in 2001.

Rick is survived by his wife, Terri, his parents, and his brothers, Jeffrey Raab of Indianapolis and Jerry Raab of Chicago, Illinois, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira & Mary Raab and Ralph & Nellie Riddell.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Croys Creek Congregational Christian Church with Pastors Paul Zurcher and Warren Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at Croys Creek Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, it would be Rick's wish that expressions of sympathy take the form of what might be called "random acts of kindness" toward people or toward animals. Visit
