Charles Wesley Lybarger, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005, in Union Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1914 in Brazil, IN, to William E. Lybarger and Maude Cagle Lybarger.

His wife of 66 years, Kathryn "Katie" Rhoden Lybarger whom he married on March 28, 1939, preceded him in death on May 29, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Charles Edward Lybarger, one brother, Herschel Lybarger and two sisters, Emma Rudisel and Helen Bell.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara M. Wood and husband Melvin of Washington, IN and Marlene Hopton and husband, Bill of Terre Haute, IN; five grandchildren: Brenda M. Allen of Ferdinand, IN; Melinda L. Middleton of Terre Haute, IN; Kevin L. Wood of Loogootee, IN; Brian Hopton and Stacey Hopton of Terre Haute, IN; ten great-grandchildren: Nathan W. Allen, Tyler L. Allen, Abby N. Middleton, Kiersten J. Wood, Brandon P. Middleton, Kaitlyn M. Wood, Adrian M. Hatcher, Devon M. Hatcher, B. J. Hopton and Jacob Hopton; one brother, Richard Lybarger and wife, Ann of Montgomery, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

He worked for the Cardinal Outdoor Advertising Company and also in the Men's Dept. at the former Schultz & Company in Terre Haute, IN, for over 20 years. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, life member of VFW Post 972, life member of American Legion Post 104, life member of the Zorah Shrine and a life member of the 40 & 8. He was also a member of MSA Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, the Grotto, the German Oberlandlers Club, the Shrine Hilltoppers, Euclid Lodge #573 F & AM and Associate Guardian Jobs Daughters 79.

Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street, Terre Haute with Rev. Cyndi Alte officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors by VFW Post 972. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home.
