She was born January 7, 1940, in West Moreland, Tenn., the daugher of William Hurley and Zeffie Mae Slayton Holman. She grew up on a strawberry and tobacco farm in Tennessee moving to Indianapolis when she was 13.
On June 25, 1982, she married Billy Gene Gregory, he survives.
She was a homemaker who loved to garden, sew and cook. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Melvin Paul Hinton in 1969; a son, William Keith Hinton in 2003; two sisters, Emma Jean Brown and Sherron Patricia Compton; and a brother Alvis Dean Holman.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Gene Gregory of Reelsville, IN; children, Paul Edward Hinton and wife Kathy Anne of Reelsvile, IN; Rhonda Kim Ingram and husband Arthur Edward of Cloverdale, IN, Phillip Perry Hinton and wife Lisa of New Whitland, IN; Timothy Alan Hinton and wife Patricia of Greenwood, IN; Christopher Brian Hinton and wife Tawnia of Indianapolis, IN; Shannon Gene Casady and husband Sean of Danville; and Joseph Shane Gregory and wife Stephanie of Gosport, IN; stepchildren, Richard Lee and wife Theresa of Indianapolis, IN and Sherry Lee Gregg and husband Gary of Fountaintown; twenty-three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Clay Holman and wife Glenda, Johnny Brittain Holman and David Anthony Holman and wife Marla; and a close friend Donna Walker; many nieces and nephews and a large exended family.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at French Funeral Home with Mark Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Croys Creek Cemetery.
