Martena M. Martin, 87, of Brazil passed away Monday, September 5, 2005, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born November 14, 1917, in Coatesville IN., the daughter of Charles and Blanche Lydick Eggers. She moved to Clay County as a young girl and attended Brazil High School.

In 1935 she married William P. Martin of Carbon with whom she became an avid outdoors person. Many good times were had enjoying their cabin in Parke County, game hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and entertaining family and friends. In later years she took pleasure in playing euchre with the Senior Citizen Euchre Club.

She was employed at Quaker Maid for over thirty years, being very active in the Union and serving as shop steward and later as Vice President.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Garold Eggers.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Hal Switz of Dunedin, FL, Sandra and Wayne Siegelin of Brazil; and one son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Jane Martin of Brazil, a sister Geneva Salitros of Plainfield, five grandchildren: Ronald Stinson, Craig Siegelin, Jeff Martin, Marsha Nicoson and Mark Siegelin; six great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Services will be at French Funeral Home Friday September 9, 2005 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00. To light a candle in her memory visit www.frenchfuneralhome.com
