Ruth M. Wise, 90, of Avon, Ind., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2005, in her home.

She was a former resident of Terre Haute, Ind. She was born November 13, 1914, in DuQuion, Ill. Her parents were Everette and Lottie Brayfield. She married Robert Wise August 14, 1937, and they resided in the Terre Haute area for 65 years. They were married for 67 years.

She wa a member of Terre Haute First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Twelve Points Chapter No. 528, Terre Haute. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for the Seelyville, Ind., troop and a member of the Lost Creek Home Ec. Club. She retired from F.W. Woolworth Co. where she was the office manager for the Wabash Ave. store in Terre Haute, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, one sister, Anna Belle Brayfield, and three brothers, Maurice, Paul and Charles Brayfield.

She is survived by her three sons, Robert and wife Judy of South Bend, Ind., David and wife Pauline of Brazil, Ind., and John and wife Nila of Granger, Ind., her daughter Sally Kempf and husband Edward of Avon, Ind., seventeen grandchilden, thirty-two great grandchildren and one niece.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005, in Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Bernard Jackson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Terre Haute, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D. 57326.
