Betty J. Bayles, age 74, Brazil, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Holly Hill Healthcare.

Born Dec. 30, 1930, in Terre Haute, Ind., she was the daughter of James William Wood and Mary Lillian Rafferty Wood.

She as a homemaker. She attended St. Mary of the Woods College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John K. Bayles in 1964; and two sons Richard & Wayne Bayles.

Survivors include one son Gary L. Bayles, Brazil, Ind.; one sister Virginia Jeffers, Rosedale, Ind.; former daughter-in-law, Judy Bayles; one grandson, Derek Bayles; four granddaughters, Stacy Shew, Rachel May, Beth Sapp and Lisa Bayles; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Private services will be held Friday evening at the Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Jarrell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Katrina Relief Fund, c/o American Red Cross, 700 S. 3rd St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
