He graduated from Community Unit School District No. 11, Class of 1982. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver working for several trucking companies in Illinois. He was a member of the NRA.
He was a Scout Master with Troop # 126 in Grand Ridge, Ill. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He also was a computer enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife Carol Brown Simonton, formerly of Parke County; his mother and step-father Linda and Ronald Franklin of Hoopeston, Ill.; one son Robert Allen Simonton of Ft. Gordon, Ga.; one daughter Laurie Ann Simonton of Lafayette; one step-daughter Jessica Randlett and husband Mason of Bradenton, Fla.; one step-son James Wilson of Lafayette; one grandson Brenden Randlett; 4 brothers- and sisters-in-laws, Troy and Missy Simonton of Lafayette, Tony and Laura Simonton of Gilman, Ill., Jason and Tasha of E. Glen, Ill., and Josh and Becky Simonton of Hoopeston, Ill.; 2 sisters-in-law, Judy and Gary Bales and Cheryl Hunt of Brazil and one brother-in-law, Jerry Morlan also of Brazil; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Lori Ann Simonton.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Little Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and again Thursday prior to services. Light a candle in his memory at www.frenchfuneralhome.com
