Ruth I. Overstreet, age 84, of Brazil, died at 3:55 p.m. October 21, 2005 in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1921 in Brazil, IN as the daughter of Earl and Kathleen Steurwald Rader. She attended the Pinckley and Hadleytown Schools. She was employed at the Clay County Hospital for 22 years as a ward clerk and had also worked at the M&M Restaurant and Columbia Records until her retirement in 1976.
She enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe. Between 1983 and 2000 she and her husband Clarence had lived on their farm in Russelville, IN. During the winter she had lived in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Clyde Cheek in 1958, Hershel Campbell in 1977 and Clarence Overstreet in 2002; grandsons Duane Cheek and Raymond Cheek and daughter-in-law Peggy Cheek.
She is survived by three sons, Clyde Cheek and wife Carol of Bloomington, IL; Charles Cheek and special friend Jeannie Somers of Brazil and Donald Cheek and wife Betty of Pas Christian, MS; stepson Walter Overstreet of Russellville, IN and stepdaughter Mary Dell Memering of Washington, IN.
Also surviving are grandchildren Daniel Cheek and wife Janet of Monmouth, IL; Kenneth Cheek and wife Vickie of Lake City, Fl; Jim Cheek and wife Rosie of Dallas, TX; Becky Johnson and husband Bret, Brenda Perkins and husband Ted, Beth Beasley and husband Mike, Mike Cheek all of Brazil; Donna Cheek of Montana, Jeff Cheek of Pas Christian, MS and Larry Cheek and wife Eva of Brazil along with several great grandchildren.
