Rachel E. Yocom, 93 of Brazil passed away October 24, 2005, at her residence. She was born June 29, 1912, in Clay County, the daughter of Ernest and Ella Leota Girton Parr. She attended school at the Star Mine School in Van Buren Township. She married David B. Yocom on January 29, 1933. He preceded her in death January 9, 1977.

She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She was a member of Ebenezer Church.

She is survived by her children, Robert Gene and Lois Yocom, Patricia Halfhill Deakins, Larry Joe and Nikki Yocom, Charlene R. and Roland "Butch" Miller all of Brazil, Donna M. Yocom of Rensselaer, Victor L.and Linda Yocom, John E. Yocom all of Brazil; 19 grandchildren, Cathleen J. Thompson, Charles D. "Chuck" Yocom and wife Roxanna, Jamie L. Steele, John S. Yocom and wife Jane, Yvonne K. Hawxhurst and husband Douglas, Debbie Schopmeyer and husband Jeff, Robert Yocom and wife Paula, Dennis Halfhill and wife Marlene, Darla Sullivan and husband Tim, Jeffrey Yocom, Steven K. Yocom and wife Jennifer, Christina Reberger, Carmella McCluskey and husband Duane, Catrina Snyder and husband Everett, Cindy Bell, Roland G. Miller II and wife Jessica, Michael T. Yocom and wife Sheri, Amy Marie Yocom, and James David Yocom; 38 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister in law, Marie Parr; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Wilma Kay Yocom, one son Marvin Barton; one granddaughter Bambi Lee Hutchinson; 3 brothers, Siebert Parr, Obert Parr, and Orval Parr.

Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and again Friday prior to services. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Ebenezer Church.
