Brian E. Scobee, 45, rural Carbon, was pronounced dead at 5:02 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, on arrival at the emergency room of St. Cincent Clay Hospital. The death is under investigation by the Clay County Coroner.

Born in Greencastle on Aug. 17, 1959, he had attended Greencastle High School and later earned a G.E.D. certificate of completion.

He began working as a roofer in Greencastle, then later moved to Clay County where he formed his own roofing company and contracted primarily residential jobs in Clay and adjoining counties.

His first wife was Ruth Ann Hayes Scobee, whom he married Dec. 31, 1992, and who preceded him Dec. 20, 2002. Also preceding were his grandparents, Emory and Katie Roe, Artie and Opal Scobee, and his step-father, Don Alspaugh.

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Clements Bell Scobee, whom he married Dec. 21, 2004, in Clay Co.; his mother, Lenora Alspaugh, Greencastle; his father Clifford Scobee, wife Billie, Danville, Ind.; four sisters, Cathy Robinson, husband Gary, Carla Brown, husband Bary, and Lori Richardson, all of Indianapolis; and Tosha App, husband Larry, Greencastle; two brothers, Brad Alspaugh, wife Tara, Greencastle; and Tracy Alspaugh, wife, Dee Dee, Indianapolis; thirteen nieces and nephews, one great-nephew, several aunts and uncles, and best friends and former brothers-in-law, Ron, Randy, Bob, Rudolph, Richard and Rick Hayes, all of Brazil.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Avenue, Brazil. Burial will be in Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
