Betty Christine Harris, 79, of Brazil, died at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

She was born December 28, 1925, in Clay County, Indiana, as the daughter of Joseph M. and Anna L. Nicholson Grey. Following graduation from Brazil High School she married Vernon F. Harris December 16, 1944 in Brazil. She began a long career spanning more than 30 years in clerical work with public utilities including the Water Department and the local license branch. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Brazil where she participated in the Best Years Club, the Ambassadors Sunday school class and served as a Deaconess. She enjoyed her work and especially her family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother, Joe Grey and a nephew, Mike Grey.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim and husband Mitch Chalos of Brazil; grandson Chad and wife Kristle Chalos of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Don and his wife Phyllis Grey of Brazil; one sister, Shirley and husband Don Boyce of Greenfield, Indiana; sister-in-law Joy Grey of Brazil; three nephews, Brent Boyce of Indianapolis, Ron Grey and Randy Grey both of Brazil, and one niece, Kelly Shaw of Indianapolis.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home and one hour before funeral services on Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
