Robert L. Targett, 80, of Brazil, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2006, in Cloverleaf Health Care.
He was born January 10, 1925, in Clay County to Oliver D. and Edith Mitcher Targett. On February 28, 1948, he married Marjorie R. Wallace Targett.
He worked in maintenance for CBS, was a mechanic at the Clay Community Schools Bus Barn and owned and operated Targett's Garage. Bob was a 58-year member of the Staunton Christian Church.
His parents, a son Dan Targett; three brothers Warren, Walter and James Henry Targett and three sisters, Isabell Targett, Florence Huff and Helen Targett preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie R. Wallace Targett; a son, Richard Targett and wife Alice of Knightsville; a daughter, Katherine Burrow and husband Steve of Zion, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Targett of Brazil; a brother, Paul C. Targett and wife Barbara of Staunton; a sister Sarah Marie Wheat and husband Jim of Brazil; grandchildren, Dan Eric Targett, Holly Ann Targett, Robert Lee Targett, Joy Marie Frederick, Kate Targett; step grandchildren, Robert Rutledge, Anna Marie Whitlow and Steven Rutledge and eight great-grandchildren; an aunt and uncle, Myrtle and Lyle Solomon; and many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
