Bernhard Joseph Nicklasch, age 76 of Brazil, died at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday December 28, 2005, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1929, in Dusseldorf, Germany, as the son of Bernhard F. and Maria Buesgen Nicklasch. Following high school he began his apprenticeship as a brick mason. He married Helene Abels December 9, 1950. They moved to the United States the next year. He worked for many years as a brick mason with various construction companies in the area.
He was a member of the Brazil BPO Elks, the German Oberlander Club of Terre Haute and Bricklayers Local 4.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Charles Josef Nicklasch.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Bernd Nicklasch and wife Sally of Brazil; one daughter, Christel Walker and her husband Randy of Terre Haute; one sister, Irmgard Dean of Brazil; grandchildren, Mark Andrew of Brazil, Maria Elizabeth Heiliger and husband Matthew of Brazil, Rachelle Deane Winn and husband James of Terre Haute and Shane Michael Walker and special friend Melissa Timmons of Terre Haute; and two great grandchildren, Drake James Deane Winn and Wesley Charles Heiliger.
At the request of the deceased, his body has been cremated. Visitation with the family will be 4 -7 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Burial of ashes will be made at Clearview Cemetery.
Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Riley Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
