Carl Alonzo Jarvis, 81, of Brazil, died at 6:58 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.He was born July 23, 1924, in Terre Haute. He was the son of Alonzo and Anna Waller Jarvis. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School with the Class of 1942. Following school, he served during World War II with the U.S. Army. He married Betty Johnson who survives him. He was a farmer, worked at Arketex Plant No. 3 and 17 years at Union Hospital. He also drove a school bus in the Van Buren area for several years.

He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family, bingo, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vern and Robert Jarvis.

He is survived by his wife Betty; one daughter, Cathy and husband Mack Harrington of Brazil; two nephews, Alan Carl Jarvis and Marshal Alan Jarvis, both of Atlanta, Georgia and several other extended family members.

At his request, his body will be cremated and buried with a family memorial service at a later date at Croys Creek Cemetery.
