James Ray Singer Sr., age 70, of Terre Haute, died at 2:32 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born February 16, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the son of Verl Ray and Verna Clingerman Singer. Following graduation from Ashboro High School, he worked 14 years at Quaker Maid, was self-employed as a logger and worked at Peabody Coal Company at their Universal Mine until retirement. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He married Wilma Jean Biddle on July 30, 1990 in Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Lawrence James Roberts; infant son, Jerry Allen Singer and one stepson, James Ray Cooper Jr.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Jean Marie Bowling and her husband, Gordon, of Brazil; three sons, James Ray Singer II and wife, Kris, Jay Lawrence Singer and his wife, Robin, and Jeffrey Lee Singer all of Brazil; one stepdaughter, Linda Jean Lippo and her husband, Joe, of St. Augustine, Florida; half-sister, Nancy Lee Feak of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
