Florence L. Trout, 102, of Brazil died February 3, 2006, at 1:40 p.m, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
She was born September 7, 1903, in Clay County the daughter of John H. Howald and Sarah Hayward Howald. She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1922. She furthered her education at Indiana State Teachers College. She taught for over 34 years in Posey Township primarily at Staunton Elementary School retiring in 1969. April 25, 1929, she married Charles Edgar Trout. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a member of Berea Christian Church. She was also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and yard. She was a devoted Christian mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Carson Trout and wife Marilyn, Larry Trout and wife Sondra and Bertha Mae Trout all of Brazil; grandchildren, Darlene Shepard, Carl Trout and wife Kathy, Phyllis Emmert and husband Todd, David Trout and wife Angie, Cheryl Vanatti and husband Eugene, DeAnn DeBoer and Jerry Shepard; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Georgiana Howald and Helen Howald of Brazil; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Edgar Trout; one son Marshall Trout; three sisters, Ethel Howald, Bessie Howald, and Annamary Robinson; four brothers, Richard, Charles, John Allen, and Paul Howald.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Pippin officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services.
