Mrs. Leona L. Fowler Bevins, 73, of Avon, formerly of Greencastle, passed away Sunday at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Born April 26, 1932 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Cloyd and Berniece (Thompson) Trisler. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School Class of 1950. She married Bill Fowler and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1980. She married Chaplain A. Cliff Bevin on October 29, 1988, and he survives.

Mrs. Bevins had been an O.B. Technician at the Putnam County Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Plainfield, Indiana.

Survivors include her husband; children, Sonny Fowler of Greencastle; Cheryl Johnson and husband, Alan of Indianapolis; Doug Fowler and wife, Sally of Bainbridge, Indiana; Alisha Doolin and husband, Don of Hooksett, New Hampshire; and Clossista Porter of Brazil; stepchildren, Kate Osborn and husband David of Indianapolis; Valerie Gavagan of Connecticut; Cheryl Purdue and Ray Bevins of Indianapolis; a sister, Iona Floyd of Rockville; a half sister, Wilma Riggle of Bedford, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Minnie Elliott.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. John Parsley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hollandsburg, Indiana.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
