VERN N. MODESITT

Vern N. Modesitt, 91, of Farmland, passed away February 14, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Randolph County following a brief illness.

Vern was born on August 8, 1914, in Terre Haute, the son of Henry and Rosetta (Riggle) Modesitt. He was a graduate of Staunton High School. He retired from Delco-Battery in Muncie in 1972 and farmed for several years. He was a member of the Delco Sympathy Club and attended Olive Branch Church, where he also taught Sunday School classes for several years.

Mr. Modesitt leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Edna (Cook) Modesitt, Parker City; a son, Michael Modesitt (wife: Shirley), Muncie; three daughters, Vickie Modesitt-Hart, Portland, Peggy White, Winchester, and Deborah Carden, Farmland; two step-daughters, Janet Collins (husband: Rex), Winchester, and Sue Ross, Indianapolis; a step-son, David Cook, Muncie; five grandsons, James Bond, Union City, Danny tenBrink, Wichita Falls, Texas, Jamie Modesitt, Decatur, Jesse Modesitt and Nick Hart, both of Portland; two granddaughters, Melanie Cook (husband: Bill), Farmland, and Chrissie Frazier, Winchester; two great-granddaughters; and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North S.R. 3, Muncie.

Friends may greet the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
