Ladonna (Donna) T. Erwin, 74, of Brazil passed away February 17, 2006, at the Clay County Health Center.

MACIL M. SMITH
Macil M. Smith, 81 of Knightsville, died February 14, 2006, at 8:25 p.m. at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. She had been a resident there for two years.
She was born December 4, 1924, in Clay County, the daughter of Elmer Deakins and Fay Davis Deakins. She attended school at Staunton. On December 17, 1942, she married Clifton "Jack" Smith. For many years she did the bookwork and assisted her husband with their family business, known as Clifton Smith Excavating. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a co-leader for the Handy-capable Scout Troop in Terre Haute for over 15 years.
She is survived by her children, Dianna Williams and husband Mike of Clinton, Indiana; Carolyn Johnson and husband Jerry of Greenfield, Indiana; Kathleen Garlits of Valley Village, California; Jack Smith of Terre Haute; and Mike Smith and wife Regina of Urbana, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Jay Chickadunce, Alan Johnson, Brian Johnson, Tom Johnson, John Garlits, Sarah Garlits, Jason Garlits, Tyler Smith, Bailey Smith; two great-granddaughters, Lisa Peer and Cara Johnson; one sister, Dorothy Grigsby of Brazil; four brothers, John Deakins of Indianapolis; David Deakins and wife Mary Kay and Everett Deakins and wife Clara of Brazil; and Bob Deakins and wife Barbara of Ocala, Florida; a special brother-in-law, Sonny Smith and wife Nancy of Brazil; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack Clifton Smith in 1984; three sisters, Jessica Shepard, Helen Maesch, and Ella Mae Smith.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Kumpf officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Happiness Bag, Inc. 3833 Union Road, Terre Haute.
