He was born June 25, 1925, in Harmony to Claude and Cecil Butler Murphy.
He was a driver and salesman for Pepsi Cola for 45 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 88th Division as a driver for Gen. Gaither.
Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Brazil High School and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Brazil VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Murphy, and a sister, Barbara Reece.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Murphy; a son, Patrick Kelly Murphy of Sevierville, Tennessee; a daughter, Claudia Marratta, and husband, Terry, of Riley; three grandchildren, Dustin Lemmon, of Davenport, Iowa, Brittany Lemmon of Terre Haute and Leslie Murphy of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Anita Cary of Brazil and Delores Beaman and her husband, Tom, of Dearborn, Mich.; Ramona's daughter, Rebecca Loyd of Brazil; grandchildren, Brittney Mueller and Josh Mueller of Brazil; a great-grandson, Ashtin Bullerdick, and several nieces, nephews; and a large extended family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on March 4, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Annunciation Catholic Church with visitation from 4 yo 8 p.m. on March 3, 2006, in French Funeral Home with rosary at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute.
