Laura D. Carter, 69, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2006 at 8:37 p.m. in the emergency room.
She was born November 1, 1936, in Clay County the daughter of John "Jack" Lynch and Kathryn Searcy Lynch. She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1954.
Laura was a devoted Christian wife, mother and nana. She was a member of Christ Community Church, and a prayer warrior for many. She was a member of the El Shaddai Emmaus community and was a pilgrim on one of the first Emmaus Walks in our area. She enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, and listening to Christian music.
She is survived by her husband Robert Carter, Sr; her children, Kathy Sawrie and husband Dave of McCordsville; Teri Chamberlin and husband Jeff, Shawn Carter and wife Toni, Robert "Rob" Carter, Jr. and wife Kim, and Chris Carter and wife Rhonda all of Brazil; ten grandchildren, Ryan Sawrie, Kevin Sawrie, and Travis Sawrie, Keenan Chamberlin and Devon Chamberlin, Taylor Carter, Brett Carter, and Jack Carter, and Kade Carter and Ellie Carter; one sister Patty Ann Kirchner, three brothers, John Lynch and wife Julie, Mark Lynch and wife Pam, and Mike Lynch and wife Angie; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband Jack Brown.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church with Pastor Tim Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Old Hill Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. also at Christ Community Church.
French Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Crisis Pregnancy Center or the Indiana Right to Life. Envelopes will be available at the church.
