Born and raised on a farm in New Holland, Illinois, she graduated from the University of Illinois in 1938. She taught English and home economics but the call of family soon took her in new directions.
Wife of a career Army officer, she raised three children while moving around the world.
She taught tailoring classes and developed into a gourmet cook.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Bob; son, George Dalrymple of Lakewood, Colorado; daughters Mary North of Houston, Texas; and Jean O'Grady of Salem, Oregon; plus seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A service was held at Valley Presbyterian Church on January 21 at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions were made to the La Posada Foundation or Valley Presbyterian Church.
