Maurice Kibbe Snell, 90, of Terre Haute and formerly of Brazil, IN died Thursday afternoon March 9, 2006 in Southwood Health Center. He was born March 15, 1915 in Harmony, IN to Ernest C. Snell and Sally Ann McIntyre Snell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy E. Orth Snell, who died in March of 1974, and one brother George Snell.
He is survived by his wife Vivian Johnson Orth Snell of Terre Haute; 3 sons: Ronald Snell of Minneapolis, MN, Alan Snell of South Bend, IN, and Thomas Snell of Asheville, NC; 4 daughters: Deanna Wells of Greencastle, IN, Joyce Thompson of Bargersville, IN, Paula Schenk of Clarkston, MI, and Carol Harrah of Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters Ernestine Kester of Brazil, IN, and Georgetta Lucas of Avon, IN.
He retired from IBM in Greencastle where he worked as a machine operator. He was a member of the Northside Community United Methodist Church of Terre Haute and a 50 year member of the Knightsville Lodge #409 F&AM. He had also been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Terre Haute and was a resident of Brazil for many years. He was an avid Cub fan and loved to fish. He also served as a volunteer with the Samaritan Food Bank in Terre Haute for many years. He always made friends with everyone he met and dearly loved his family.
Services will be Monday, March 13 in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton Street, Terre Haute at 10 a.m. with Rev. Roy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, March 12 from 4 -- 6 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home.
