David Ross Stigler, 69, of Center Point, died on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 3:20 a.m. in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born on November 16, 1936 to Lynden L. and Pauline Hopkins Stigler. David attended Brazil High School and served in the Army. On August 30, 1985 he married Elizabeth "Ann" Wesley Mattingly.
David was active in the Eli Shaddi Community, Emmaus Walk #47. A life- long business man, he was active in buying/selling heavy construction equipment, owned and operated a Ford and Case implement dealership, operated a family farm and was involved in several business partnerships involving real estate, coal mining and manufacturing. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church. David also loved his work and mushroom hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; Anna and Dave Stigler, Ross and Nelle Hopkins.
Surviving him are his wife; sons, Charles Michael Stigler and Becky, of Louisville, KY, Jon Stigler of Plymouth, IN; daughters, Melany Sandman of Valparaiso, IN., Kathryn Simmons of Orlando, FL., Tami Maslyk, of Indianapolis, IN., Pamela Henthorn and Kris of Indianapolis, IN., Lori Bielko and Kendall of Ft. Wayne, IN.; a stepson Brian Mattingly and Denise of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Anna Long and Gary of Brazil and Linda Chaney of Reelsville. He has fifteen grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday, March 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Union United Methodist with the Rev. Dennis Alstott officiating. Internment will be at McCollough-Stigler Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2006 from 4 until 8 p.m. at French Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Union United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
