Ralph McDonald, 96, of Brazil, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Clay Health Center in Brazil.
He was born October 2, 1909, in Brazil as the son of Arthur and Elizabeth Gray McDonald. He attended Zeller School. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Army. Following the war he married Mable Southerland May 24, 1947. He was employed with Midland Glass and The Weaver Brick and Tile Company. He enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mable; one brother, Donald A. McDonald; four sisters, Alberta Pruett, Virginia Plummer, Margaret Jean Shobe and Leona Shobe and one niece, Melva Lou Bennett Alexander.
He is survived by one sister, Alice Jane Bennett of Brazil; 12 nieces and nephews, Betsy Smith of Michigan, Mary Ellen Sorensen of Wisconsin, Jim Plummer of Brazil, Pam McShanog of Brazil, William Shobe of Shoals, Indiana, Mary Lee Steuerwald of Brazil, Robert Shobe of Greencastle, Linda Messmer of Brazil, Sharon Jones of Brazil, Kathy Hood of Brazil, John McDonald of Terre Haute and Nancy Trackwell of Colorado; a cousin, Don Dowell and a special friend, Pete Paullus.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1127 and American Legion Post 2.
