He was born June 9, 1922, to James Peter and Ruth Reade Eyster of Indianapolis. He graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute in 1941 and enlisted in the Army Air Force, October, 1942, where he served as a radar technician assigned to the 73rd Bomb Wing, 477th Bomb Group based in Saipan. He returned to civilian life in Terre Haute in late 1945 as an Air Force Reservist in the Indiana National Guard and married Marjory Jean Biddle on August 1, 1947. He was called to serve his country yet again during the Korean War, serving as a Master Sergeant at Randolph Air Force Base.
Don entered the printing business and eventually founded Data Label, Inc. in Terre Haute, a successful label printing company, remaining its president until retirement. During his career, he belonged to the Data Processing Managers Association, the National Association of Accountants, and was listed in Who's Who in American Business. He also sat on the printing boards of Vincennes and Western Michigan universities, was a member of the Christian Church, and a member of the 73rd Bomb Wing Association.
He enjoyed all things Indiana, was an avid Indiana history buff and hunted and fished her lakes and waters.
Survivors include his wife, Marjory Jean, and their children, son, Brent of Southlake, Texas; daughter, Judy Wycoff and husband Charles, of Grosse Ile, Michigan; and their children, Sara and Jon Wycoff; his brother, Irving and wife, Jeane, of Islamorada, Florida; also several nieces and nephews.
Services will include visitation Friday, March 31st, from 4 to 8 p.m. and funeral service Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 10 a.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Guy Armstrong Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park where VFW No. 972 will conduct memorial services.
