Frank D. Smith, 71, of Brazil formerly of Norman, Arkansas, passed away in his home April 10, 2006, at 8:15am. He was born July 30, 1934, in Pine Valley, Oklahoma the son of Ross Smith and Mae Anderson Smith. As a young man he worked in construction as a "Climber" in the building of steel towers. He worked at many different locations in Arkansas and also in Indiana. In later years he was a school bus driver retiring after his health begin to fail. In 2001, he and his wife Deloris moved to Brazil to be closer to her family. In the past, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Smith of Brazil; one step-son Brad Collier of Indianapolis; one son Jerry Smith of Hot Springs, Arkansas, four daughters, Jeannie Smith, Sherry Sledd, and Sandra Smith all of Glenwood, Arkansas, and Susan Pitman of Amity, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters in law, Carolyn Boyd and her husband C.R. Boyd of Brazil, Kay Bussing and Ginger Lamb all of Brazil; two brothers, Darrell Smith of Garland, Texas, and Bud Smith of Jacksonville, Arkansas; one half-sister, Hazel Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, one brother, three half-brothers and two half-sisters.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
