Ruth A. Brown, 93, of Brazil, passed away April 17, 2006, at 6:27 p.m. at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.
She had been a resident there for two years. She was born Nov. 28, 1912, in Clay County, the daughter of John and Florence Boes McCullough. She graduated from Brazil High School. On Sept., 1935, she married Joseph E. Brown. During WWII she worked at the Allison Plant in Indianapolis. She worked as a lab technician for Terre Haute Med Lab at the Clay County Hospital for over twenty years, retiring in the mid-1970s.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the Best Years Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Home Ec Club and enjoyed playing Bingo, Euchre and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her father, John McCullough and mother Florence McCullough Edmunson; her husband Joe Brown in 1981; one brother Russell McCullough; and one sister Nelle Elwell; two nephews, Bill Elwell and Dale Elwell; and one niece Pat Ward.
She is survived by her three nephews, Ted Elwell and Rex Elwell both of Brazil and Oren McCullough of Terre Haute; great-nieces and nephews, Vicki and Frank Atkinson, Larry and Donna Elwell, Gary and Karen Elwell, Connie and Mark Adamson, Rexanne and Jerry Laue, and Karen Sue O'Boyle; many other great-great-nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Chris Gregg officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 -7 p.m. and again Friday prior to funeral.
