Denver Robert "Denny" Dardeen

Denver Robert "Denny" Dardeen, 84, of Brazil, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006, in the Holly Hill Health Care and Rehabilitation Facility.

He was born May 5, 1921 in Terre Haute to George W. and Doris Albietz Dardeen. He was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and served his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Mr. Dardeen was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, the Thursday morning businessmen coffee club, an avid golfer and bowler and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Owen Burns Dardeen and a sister Caroline Tucciarone.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Johanna Ruth Butt Dardeen, who he married on Feb. 10, 1940, in Terre Haute; two sons, Michael Lee Dardeen and wife Carolyn of Brazil and Marc Leslie Dardeen and wife Terry of Danville; four grandchildren, Leslie Vickers and husband Rob of Terre Haute, Eric Dardeen and wife Jill of Lafayette, Dawn Fougerousse and husband Steve of Danville and Emilee Whitaker and husband Craig of Brazil, nine great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Howard Dardeen and wife Wanda of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Fagg of Cory and Doris Butt of Brazil; several nieces, nephews and a large extended family as well as his beloved church family.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2006, in the Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., with Brother Brian Burns and Brother Walter Hunter officiating. Visitation will be from 4 -8 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2006, in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Dardeen, Craig Whitaker, Robert Vickers, Steve Fougerousse, Howard Dardeen and Garrett Stephens.
