Doris L. Fry, 85 of Clay City, passed away April 26, 2006, at 10:07 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Pat Hughes.
She was born June 13, 1920, in Clay City, the daughter of James F. Michael and Goldia Love Michael. On Oct. 16, 1937, she married Gorge D. Fry. He preceded her in death April 10, 1960.
She had attended Clay City High School. She was a former member of Amel Dragon's Barn Square Dance Club of Terre Haute, Rough Riders Riding Club in Blackhawk and had been a cub scout den mother. She was a member of Abundant Life Worship Center, Church of God.
She was a homemaker and devoted mother.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Peavler, Clinton, Illinois; Edna Thomas of LaJunta, Colorado; Patricia Hughes of Clay City; Nancy Richey of Branson, Mo., and Betty Page of Clay City; James Fry of Kenny, Ill.; John Fry of Linton; Warren Fry, Wayne Fry, George D. Fry and Ray Fry, all of Clay City; 48 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Michael of Clay City; two sisters, Thelma Musgrave, Riley, and Shirley Noblitt of Bowling Green; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Harold Dean Fry, one daughter, Dorothy Fry, two brothers, John Michael and Seth Michael, seven sisters, Edith Smith, Cathryn Hostetler, Mildred Greenwell, Mary Steinhall, Helen Day, and twin sisters in infancy, one grandson, Roger Dale Thomas, three great-grandchildren, John and Brittney Wilson and Tyler Mason Kreis.
Services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
