Hester Elizabeth Raab, 65 of Carbon, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Sullivan, Indiana, as the daughter of Carl and Vera Cox Phegley.
She worked as an assembly worker at area electrical component manufacturing companies including Dormeyer in Rockville and Lear Corporation in Greencastle. She was married to Cletus Wayne Raab who survives her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Thomas Raab.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Michael Raab and wife, Tracy, of Brazil; daughter-in-law Dixie Raab; 10 grandchildren, Michael Raab Jr., Bobbi Jean Raab, David Grove, Sarah Raab, Matt Grove, Penny Nevins, Elizabeth Dickison, Tom Raab Jr., Virginia Raab and Mary Kate Raab and eight great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by six sisters, Violet Anderson, Barbara Brown, Bertha Batchelor, Rachelle Phegley, Shelia Maesch and Chris Reid; four brothers, Carl, Edward, Sam and Keith Phegley and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
