Keith E. Thompson, 72, of Reelsville, formerly of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly May 16, 2006, at 5:05 p.m. at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1934, in Poland, Indiana, the son of Edward Thompson and Anise Bullerdick Thompson. He graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1952. On May 7, 1952, he married Amelia A. Julbert, whom he affectionately called "Sam" for their 54 years together.
As a young man he worked for the Indiana State Highway Department as a project engineer. He later worked for the McMahan-O'Connor Asphalt Company, based in Rochester, Indiana. He was a supervisor of projects for the company until his retirement in 1996.
He was a past member of the Brazil Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He loved animals, was an excellent gardener, and a wonderful Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Thompson; their children, Kim and John Rodgers, Christine Thompson, Vicki Frees, and Michael and Beth Thompson all of Brazil; five grandchildren, David Anderson, Jacqueline Barnhart and husband Sean, Eric Puff, Andrea Hapenny and husband Anthony, and Brad Rodgers and wife Holly; great-grandchildren, Bryce Hapenny, Chloe Rodgers, Hayley Puff, and Noah Barnhart; three brothers, Virgil Thompson, Max Thompson, Ronnie Thompson; one sister, Jean Ann Thompson; and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at noon at Clearview Cemetery. French Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
