Merlin "Marilyn" Ann Goss Diel, 64 of Reelsville, died June 4, 2006, in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She had been battling cancer for over a year. She was born May 30, 1942, in Marion County, the daughter of Willard Wesley Rigdon and Gwendolyn Kathryn James Rigdon. She graduated from Eminence High School. She was a waitress in Greencastle at the Fairway Restaurant and the Monon Restaurant. She retired in 2001 due to health problems. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, canning and mushroom hunting. She was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her companion of many years, Charles Diel, of Reelsville; her daughter Tracey Mason of Greencastle; three stepdaughters, Carla Diel, Crystal Plessinger and husband Carl, and Callie Teal and husband Thomas all of Greencastle; grandchildren, Steven Sage, Shante Smiley, Shelley Plessinger, Angela Plessinger, Thomas Plessinger; great-grandchildren, Keely Sage, Raven Sage, Hayley, D.J., Morgan, Austin, Mason, Levi, Cole, Bryson; three sisters, Barb Childress and husband Jim, Dixie Carter and husband Audley, and Nancy Grider; five brothers, Bob Rigdon and wife Joan, John Rigdon and wife Renatta, Mickey Rigdon, Ray Rigdon and Clyde Rigdon and wife Sandy; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Ronald Dean Goss; one daughter Teresa Sage; three sisters Jo Spitz, Glenna Litzelman and Reba Rigdon.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Croy's Creek Cemetery with Pastor Paul Zurcher officiating. French Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
