He was born Sept. 28, 1913, in Owen County, the son of Henry Peter Wolf and Mary Agnes Mitchell Wolf. He was a life-long resident of Clay and Owen counties. He graduated from Patricksburg High School. As a young man he participated in the Rural Youth farming group.
Nov. 26, 1942, he married Lorene Thomas Wolf, she survives. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed his farming years. He received a farming certification from Purdue. He was an active member of the First United Church of Christ, serving as a church elder and on many other church boards. He was also a member of Farm Bureau. He was a devoted and loving husband for 63 years, a wonderful father and grandfather.
His survivors include his wife, Lorene Wolf, of Greencastle; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Chris Crafton, of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Traver Wolf and wife, Paige, Tara Secrest and husband, Joe, Kit Crafton and wife, Adrielle, and Kevin Crafton; two great-grandchildren, Elyssa Secrest, and Noah Crafton; a daughter-in-law, Beth Wolf; one brother, Fred Wolf, and wife, Audrey, of Pendleton, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Thomas Wolf; one brother Joe Wolf; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Wolf.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ with the Rev. Sam Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home and again Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services.
