Jasper Jordan Jr., 80 of Brazil, died at 9:27 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006, at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville.
He was born April 9, 1926, in Staunton, as the son of Jasper Newton and Bertha Wools Jordan. Following school he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater where he received the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Okinawa and a Bronze Battle Star. He was Honorably discharged in October 1951.
He married Gloria Lee Gray on Oct. 21, 1948, in Terre Haute.
He had been employed as a Postal Clerk at the Terre Haute Post Office and had also worked at W. E. Sherfey Furniture Company in Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank, Harold and Howard Jordan and two sisters, Bessie Thomas and Mable Pierce.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; four sons, Gary and wife Judy of Brazil, Robert and wife Sheryl of Brazil, William and wife Amy of Brazil and Wayne Jordan of Terre Haute; two daughters, Kathy Cox and husband, John, of Greencastle and Connie Houser and husband, Ron, of Knightsville; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday at noon with Rev. Richard Pippin officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post 1127 and American Legion Post 2.
