Orlie M. Summers, 87, of Carmel, died Aug. 3, 2006.
Orlie was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Carbon, Ind., to Orlie R. and Verna Ethel Snow Summers. They preceded him in death.
Orlie served his country in the U.S. Army from June 1942 to November 1945 as a Staff Sergeant with the 79th Division of the 314th Infantry. After returning home he was employed with the Kalamazoo Clay Company Carbon, Shell Oil of Zionsville for 28 years and retired from Taylor Oil of Zionsville, Ind.
He also was a 50-year member of the Carbon Masonic Lodge 529 of Carbon and a member of the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite.
Orlie is survived by his daughter, Beckie Yeagley, and her husband, Terry, of Greencastle; his grandson, Todd Yeagley, and his wife, Ronda, of Carmel; his great-grandsons, Drew and Cole Yeagley; and his brother, Johnny Summers, and his wife, Roberta, of Carbon; and sister-in-law, Margaret Hayes, of Indianapolis.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Zionsville with visitation from Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. Entombment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers.
