Marolyn Ann Nees, 70 of Brazil, passed away Aug. 7, 2006, at 9:06 p.m. at the I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis following surgery.
She was born Oct. 27, 1935, in Brazil, the oldest child of Robert Downing and Louise Virginia Williamson Downing.
She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1953, and was secretary in the chemistry Department at Rose Hulman for 15 years. Marolyn also had been a legal secretary for Judge Neal, both in his private practice and in the court system.
On May 23, 1987, Marolyn married Richard Nees, he survives.
She was a member at Union United Methodist Church, and had been attending the Calvary Baptist Church in Brazil. She was a member of Tri Kappa and Order of the Eastern Star, Carbon Lodge.
She enjoyed her flowers, knitting, crocheting, traveling, and was an avid reader. Marolyn always enjoyed the companionship of her dogs through the years, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include, husband Richard Nees, Brazil; children, Steven Emmert and wife Vicki, Jeff Emmert and wife, Melinda, and Todd Emmert and wife, Tammy and step children, Richard Nees, David Nees, D.D. Jorgensen, Jeffrey Nees; nine grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert Downing and wife, Mary Beth and Michael Downing and wife, Vicky; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Downing; one sister, Virginia Louise "Ginny" Miller.
Private family graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Bee Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Jason Selby officiating.
