Madonna R. Daniels, 85, Brazil, was pronounced dead at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital. Since November, 2003, she had been staying at the Clay Health Center.
Born in Carbon on Oct. 10, 1920, her parents were the late Joseph Salitros and Irene Dowell Salitros. She was a 1938 graduate of Van Buren High School.
In November, 1942, she married Everett L. Daniels who was a teacher at Pike Township High School near Indianapolis where they lived from 1944 to 1972 during his teaching career.
Upon his retirement they returned to Clay County and resided on East Tennessee Street in Brazil. He died July 12, 1991.
She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
Surviving are her siblings, Phil (Oletta) Salitros, Harmony, IN; Margaret (Kenneth) Hood and Bob Salitros, all of Brazil; her nieces and nephews, Kent (Peggy) Salitros, Jan (Jerry) Choate, Rita (Paul) Harden, Kurt (Debbie) Hood, and Joe (Erin) Hood; several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Lawson-Miller Chapel. The Rev. Fr. Steve Jerroll will officiate and burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday with the Rosary recitation at 12:15 p.m.
