Ezra V. McMains, 81, of Greencastle, passed away Sunday at his residence.
Born Jan. 29, 1925, in Greencastle, he was the son of Alfred E. McMains and Olive Cleo Rollings.
He was a graduate of Greencastle High School.
He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran and also served in the Korean Conflict.
On Nov. 12, 1945, he married Gladys M. Littrell.
He worked for Black Lumber Company for 17 years as a Millwright. He then worked at the Art Center at Depauw University 10 years, retiring in May of 2005.
He was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church and a life member of VFW Post 1550 of Greencastle and served on the Greencastle City Council 1968-1972.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys M. (Littrell) McMains, Greencastle; a son, Larry R. McMains and wife, Susie, of Greencastle; two daughters, Patricia K. Moore of Seelyville; Karen L. Lynch and husband, Steve, of Seelyville; nine grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; Also a special cousin, Joe Mogan and wife, Betty Ann of Carbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a nephew and a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the Hanna Street Baptist Church, 5001 E. Hanna Street on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Friends may call at the church 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Little Walnut Cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at firstname.lastname@example.org.
